Guess I should just be lucky this is the first time, after all he is 5, a boy and a Howland. It's a great story and I'm sure he is just going to love that I am telling it! He was at the after school program and was on a bathroom break. He walked into the little boys when he slipped on some urine on the floor and fell and hit is chin on the urinal. Yep.not.kidding.at.all.
Good story, huh.
It turned out the gash wasn't so deep it needed stitches but was big enough they decided to glue it. Who knew glue would have so many uses. He was a bit traumatized by the whole procedure, but then they gave him a Slurpee and he was good to go.

I can't wait until he gets his license!
So while we were at SDC they had go-carts everywhere! We went on several and even tried out the bumper boats. We found one place that had a mini-track for all the kids. This was great, and as you can see in the pictures Trent is not paying any bit of attention to the track ahead of him. In every picture he is looking at all the other racers and if they get close to him he runs them off the track or "puts them into the wall." Why oh why would my sweet boy do this? Oh, yes, he had been riding passenger with daddy this whole time and if I ever got close to them, this was their plan of action for me. So when Trent got in the drivers seat, that is exactly what he did to all these innocent kids. Thank goodness all the parents were in good spirits and we all had quite a chuckle over it.
yep your going in the wall!
you too!
don't even think about it blondie!
and into the wall you go!
oh yeah, I'm watching you!

Silver Dollar City
We decided to take a short trip to Silver Dollar City, lots of fun!!
We made the mistake of taking Trent on Canon in the Hole for our very first ride...it was a little much for him, so we were banned to the elephants and tea cups for the rest of our trip there.
Awww, the beloved elephants.
He did love all the water sprayers they had!
Guess I got a little wet.
just a little though.
it was that guy.
His very favorite part of our vacation, dippin dots!

Oh goodness!
My baby went off to Kindergarten! I cannot believe he is 5. I'll admit it was a hard day for me. We have debated back and forth to send him or to wait until next year. His preschool teacher said he was ready, but what about ME, I am NOT ready!! I can't in good conscious hold him out for a year just to make ME feel better....unless you all agreed with me and validated my thoughts....
anyway, enough of me whining and on the the cute kid pictures!
Thank goodness he saw a friend! He was holding my hand pretty tight and I didn't know if he was going to let go...then he saw a friend and he was happy!
and oh goodness will you look at those dimples, they could make a girl swoon!

Trent would like to show you something!!
Sooooo very exciting!!! Take a peek!
We have been working so hard to learn this. We took the pedals off his bike so he could scoot along and get his balance and today, it finally happened. It is so easy for him now! We all went as a family on a bike ride tonight and it was the best time ever! The absolute hightlight of my day, week, year!

Baseball practice
We are now one of those families that run and run over the summer school break. This year Trent wanted to play baseball (T-ball). So we go to practice - sometimes 2X's a week and have a game every Saturday for two months. I never knew T-ball was such a serious sport....

Trent turns FIVE!!!
just born - we were excited you were finally here...
turning 1 - you weren't walking yet, but we were so thankful you were sleeping thru the night! YAY!!
2nd birthday - we thought we breezed thru the terrible two's but then we figured out they really start until you turned THREE!
3rd birthday - such a big boy now, and you were ready for your big boy bed!
4th birthday - You are so excited to be going to preschool and riding on the bus.
5th birthday - Mr. Independent now, you no longer like holding my hand to cross the street and tell me all the time "MOM, I can do it MYSELF"! I'm just not ready for you to be grown up yet!
